Mount Zion, Hook
Mount Zion is situated on the corner of Lower Quay Road in the village of Hook. It has a very active congregation and is right at the heart of the community. As well as the regular, well attended service at 6pm on Sundays, it offers a popular Sunday Club for children at 11am.
On Fridays throughout the spring, summer and autumn, a mini-market and coffee morning is held in the Church Hall. The home-baking stall sells out quickly, so make sure that you are there for the opening at 10:00am.
For the past two years, Mount Zion has been pleased to lead the open-air service in the Hook Festival.
Shirley writes: Mount Zion members will be joining together in the Chapel to Worship on 27 June at 2.30pm for the first time since March 2020. We are so glad to be able to meet together again.
There has been a lot of paperwork to complete for the URC - not least the 16 page risk assessment! We will initially meet every fortnight and have to book places on the Wednesday before. All the government guidelines will be met of course, but we look forward to the time when we can sing as well. Worship together will definitely be a blessing for us all.
A small boy went to church with his grandmother and joined her when she quietly slipped off the pew to kneel and pray. He even copied her example of burying her face in her hands. After a few seconds his curiosity got the better of him. “Who are we hiding from, Granny ?”
