Mount Zion, Hook

Mount Zion is situated on the corner of Lower Quay Road in the village of Hook. It has a very active congregation and is right at the heart of the community. As well as the regular, well attended service at 6pm on Sundays, it offers a popular Sunday Club for children at 11am.

On Fridays throughout the spring, summer and autumn, a mini-market and coffee morning is held in the Church Hall. The home-baking stall sells out quickly, so make sure that you are there for the opening at 10:00am.

For the past two years, Mount Zion has been pleased to lead the open-air service in the Hook Festival.

Christine writes: on 25 July we welcomed Efe and Zeze Umughele into full membership at Mount Zion, a service we had looked forward to for a long time. We have also welcomed Marion and Michael Ryall to worship with us, and we look forward to getting to know them and worshipping with them for many years.

It was with great sadness we heard of the death of Mr Peter Davies on 6 August. For many years Peter was responsible for keeping the grave- yard cut, clean and tidy. It is appropriate that his burial took place at Mount Zion cemetery on 25 August. We send our deepest sympathy to his children—Sara, Neil, Timothy and all the family.

Our congratulations to Shirley and Doug Burt on their Golden Wedding Anniversary. We wish them both every happiness and many more happy years together.

We also say congratulations to a very special couple, Olive and Dennis Rees who have recently celebrated their 73rd Wedding Anniversary — such a fantastic achievement. We wish them both good health and many more happy years together.

On 12 September we will be holding our Harvest Festival Service of Thanksgiving. There will be NO produce this year, only flowers. There will be NO sale. We will be saying “Thank you” to God for all the good things he has given us and bringing us safely through the last 18 months. All are welcome to join us, but please wear a MASK.
